Nic McElhatton is a decorative arts specialist with over thirty years experience in the field of art and design. Nic began his career at Christie's South Kensington joining the company in 1984 as a porter. He worked his way up Christie's to become a specialist in European Works of Art; an auctioneer; a director; and finally becoming Chairman of the saleroom in 2010, until its closure in July 2017.  

Nic has an expansive knowledge of decorative arts, over his career at Christie's Nic has overseen numerous major collection sales including The Collection of Will Fisher, Founder of Jamb, and The Longridge Collection compiled by Syd Levethan. Nic pioneered the Interiors sales at Christie's, a sales format that has been widely copied by auction houses across the globe.  

As well as selling works of art, Nic now runs an art advisory service offering his wealth of experience to clients looking to sell their collections and individual works of art. Either guiding and supporting them through the auction process, or utilising his wide network of contacts to facilitate sales to private collectors and dealers.
